Chula Vista, CA— The invention of The Turni-Cath offers a creative concept for a product line of variously sized polymeric foam pads. These pads would be used between the underside of a patient’s arm, and the tourniquet used during a phlebotomy, or blood drawing, procedure. The Turni-Cath is designed to cushion and protect the patient’s arm during this procedure, reducing discomfort and increasing the phlebotomist’s ability to reach a good vein stick or venipuncture without repeated attempts.

The Turni-Cath was invented by Ana Marie W. of Chula Vista, California. She said, “My invention is designed to present patients and phlebotomists with a host of significant benefits and advantage. Using The Turni-Cath would be both flexible enough and dense enough to resist buckling under the pressure of a latex tourniquet pulled tight around the patient’s arm. Securing the arm in this manner would make for a more successful vein stick, reducing a patient’s pain and discomfort during the procedure.”
